Ne'er an Amaryllis Shall Bloom

You might remember my quest for an amaryllis after Thanksgiving. When I finally found some, the bulbs were looking a little rough and I wasn't sure I'd ever get one to grow. So I was pleasantly surprised when the inhabitant of my little pretty red pot started to grow. It grew quickly and I just knew that any day I'd be greeted by a fat green bloom just waiting to burst open with a beautiful white bloom.

Instead, this is all I got (see below).

WHAT THE CRAP? Two foot tall leaves but nary a bloom in sight.

I feel like I've been hoodwinked.

Any idea what went wrong??
