Roots

There's a fantastic tree that grows near the park that is a photo-op for all who pass.  It has this unbelievably intricate mass of exposed roots facing out to the park, and you really can't help yourself from stopping to marvel at them, no matter how many times you've walked by and seen them before.  But this time, I couldn't help but take a picture with my own little piece of the family tree in front of this amazing symbol of connectedness.

It's so amazing to me that just four years ago, I was only starting my journey of motherhood.

I found out I was pregnant a week before Mother's Day.

I don't want to jinx it, but it's been amazing.

I live in a world where sticks are magic wands...

...rocks become the only safe pathway through treacherous waters...

...unicorns are real, and they're our friends...

...and a simple request to "point at the sign" becomes an opportunity to make a fantabulous pose.

For me, Mother's Day isn't about getting a "day off"from being Mama; it's about celebrating roots...

...and the beautiful flowers that they nourish.
