Get Lost!

Lilah and I took advantage of yet another Groupon to check out Stewart Farms' Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze in Enoree, SC yesterday.

SUCH FUN!

I have been wanting to visit a corn maze since I first moved to South Carolina in 2004.  The farm near my job at the time had a big corn maze each fall, but it was so far away, I never could figure a good time to get together a group of us to go.

So when this Groupon showed up, I decided I'd take my captive audience :-)

I don't think she minded.

She had picked out some festive fascinators for us to wear, and because she's rather convincing, I couldn't refuse her request.

We had the option to go through the "mini maze," but Lilah apparently likes a challenge, so we opted to get the clue sheet and head through the major maze.  Even though I had a moment of claustrophobia and felt like we had been wondering through this giant rooster for hours, when we made it out, the maze attendants remarked on how quickly we'd made it through - in about 45 minutes.

The sweet smell of success is corn, apparently.

After the we mastered the "maize," we were off to pick our pumpkin.

This pumpkin patch was *so* much nicer than the "bunch of cut pumpkins tossed into a field" patch we went to last year.  Plus, last year the temperature was about 50 degrees with a wind chill of negative a million.

I was informed this pumpkin had too much green on it, so it would never do.

So we kept up the search for our pumpkin

Spotted the perfect pumpkin!

A quick snip and it's all ours!

Then it was time to visit a few farm animals.

Sweet baby cow.

Greedy goats!

Regal rooster.

There was also a pretty little piggy, but he was eating a pumpkin so it was hard to get a good picture.

Finally we went on the tractor ride around the farm!

Check out all those folks getting pumpkins!

At last it was time for us to pay for our pumpkin (all ten pounds of it!) and head home, but we had one last photo-op outside the "store"

Oh, how someone wanted to take home a couple of those scarecrows...

And look how nice our "pink" pumpkin looks on the table at home -

All in all, a great experience and one we'll definitely repeat next October!
