Better late than never?

So it occurred to me that I had never posted a photo of Lilah's birth announcements, and I guess I thought since most people got one (or the other, because yes, there were two, but I'll get to that), I didn't have to.

But some people DIDN'T get one, either because I had no address or didn't want them to feel like I was doing some sort of gift seeking, but anyway, I am sharing them now because I thought they were really damn good and I just wish it had worked out that they were the ONLY announcements that went out.

Since we were doing the "travel theme" room, I thought she should have a travel themed announcement, and a passport fit the bill!

The exterior was cut to the exact same dimensions as my passport, which conveniently fit into tiny gold envelopes I already had! I used clear stamp ink and gold embossing powder to stamp everything on the front. I then had to hold each cover over the stove to set the powder. This was a VERY time consuming process, and my plan was to complete every cover before Lilah was born (I had already designed the inside and only had to add Lilah's stats) and then print and cut the insides, get the photos and assemble them as quickly as possible after she was born.

Well.

I got 15 outer covers completed before my water broke on January 7th.

I had 30 gold envelopes already addressed, so I HAD to make at least 15 more, but when something takes you at least 30 minutes per announcement, I was CLEARLY never going to get finished with the 90 that I wanted to make before the baby was in grade school. So everyone who hadn't already been given an addressed envelope was sent one of the monster postcards (Which read "Greetings from Lilah in Greenville, SC" on the front) which I liked, but just weren't the special things I wanted to send out. I did put extra pictures on the postcards so that there would be some advantage to getting the "lesser" announcement, but that will always bother me, that not everyone got the awesomer than awesome announcements that I had wanted them to get.

Next post, maybe I'll write about something not 10 months old.

Thankfully I'm an "A" name! Yeah, things never usually work out the way we plan, huh? Kids have a mind of their own...even before birth. BTW...I really liked the announcements.
