More Stories

I have other things to talk about, but honestly, I'm too tired and they just don't seem as important to have saved for posterity as do these stories about my sweet, rapidly growing baby.

  • We were driving in the car when she counted "One, two, three." I said, "Great! Can you count in Spanish? Uno, Dos, Tres?" "OO,Do,Say!" "Great!" I say. "That's how Handy Manny counts, Mama!" Uhhhhhhhh....yeah, it is!
  • When she was a little tiny baby, before she had daily baths, I would make sure to wash her face every night. As I did, I made up a little song about washing her face and making sure she was clean and shiney. After being too tired for giving a bath the other night, I decided to just wash her face. She hates when I wash her face, so I started singing the song to try and distract her. She instantly softened. "I love that song, Mommy. It's my FAVORITE!" I about melted. I told her that I would sing her that song when she was a little, tiny baby. Today, I tried to clean her face without singing the song. "Sing the song, Mommy. The song from me was TIIIIIIINY baby!" I love her. I think I need to record the song for posterity...
  • We often are driving when the sunshine is at juuuuust the right height to blaze in through the windshield and blind the princess. One day she exclaimed, "NO, SUNSHINE, NO! BABY'S EYES!!!!! LET ME GO, SUNSHINE! LET. ME. GO!!!" And another time she said to the sun, "YOU GO AWAY NOW!"
  • I put on her black and white striped pants and she said, "Oh! I wear Deebra Pants." (zebra pants)
  • One morning I went to get her out of bed one morning and she goes, "Hi, Mommy! I missed you!!!"
She's so good; she loves playing with her Little People. She takes them on the LP School Bus to Walmart and then they drop people off at their house, where everyone goes to the bathroom and gets a hearty, "Great, Job!" when they're finished. She is convinced she's a princess and constantly asks me for a crown to wear. She is kind to our pets, and wants to kiss them both goodnight before bed. She loves dresses. And rain boots. She takes care of her baby dolls and likes to help me in the kitchen. "No, no - the baby doos it" is a phrase I hear often when I try to help. I took her last week to have Easter pictures taken with bunnies and when I got her out of bed that morning, she said, "We go to see bunnies now?" When I took my time getting ready (because we had time), she said, "GO GET SHOES NOW!" Then, when the bunny accidentally scratched her after she held him like, well, like a toddler, she dejectedly explained that "I's finished" when the photographer tried to get her to interact with him more.

Lately, she hasn't been sleeping well. I asked her last night why she had woken up during the night and asked her if she had had a bad dream. "No," she said. "I's scared." "What scared you, baby?" "It was monsters. They hurt Mommy. In chains."

o_O

Where she got ANY of that, I have no idea. But there it was. Such an imagination! So sad that it worked against her that time.

She doesn't like "bad" things. When she watches Dora (ugh), she often turns it off or walks away when Swiper comes on. "I no like Swiper," she says. "Well, he's not nice. He steals. So we don't want to be like him."

I suppose that's all for now. Pictures with bunnies asap.

She's so cute! Love that her favorite song is one you had not sang in awhile and yet she remembers it.
