For some reason, this post makes me think of Huey Lewis and Plutonium

One of my very, very, very favorite Christmas holiday activities is riding through Roper Mountain Holiday Lights display.  I remember when I first started going, it was strictly a drive-through operation, but in recent years they have stepped it up and added a winter wonderland with photo opportunities, a gift shop, Santa, and snacks.

We normally go early to avoid the big crowds; they start around Thanksgiving and then go through until the new year.  This year, though, we didn't make it before Christmas.  There was just too much to do.

Besides, we had to drive by there once the week before Christmas, and it was CRAY-ZAY.

But I didn't want to miss out on the fun, so we headed on over there before they went dark for the year.

Here's my little elf posing in the winter wonderland.

Santa's little helper is on the sleigh.  She just wanted to stay there.  Forever.  I think she really thought it was going somewhere.

Something about this tin soldier seems familiar...

Santa was already back at the North Pole, but a balloon guy was there, and he was making all kinds of neat shapes.  Lilah, ever the fashionista, opted for this fantastic balloon holly bracelet.  Man, that girl loves herself some accessories.

It was SO cold.  We headed up the path to the snack shack and I just had to get a couple of poorly focused night time twinkle light photos.

Because it's not the holidays without poorly lit and focused Christmas light shots.

They had a great fire pit and even greater, they had s'mores kits.

We got two.

Because you don't want to run out of s'mores around this one.  She looks sweet enough, but there's a dark side lurking...

a s'more dictator.

I won't lie - she probably gets that from me.

We're working on it.

This is always my favorite part.  You just drive and drive through these giant light candy canes and even though it never changes, I always take a picture of it.

Every year.

The same picture.

Through the windshield.  Blurry as all get out.  Red as sin.

Happiness.
