I have been stupid busy.
Work is busy, so I've been in earlier.
Which means there is less time to do home stuff.
Like, my blog time has been replaced by "OMG WE NEED CLEAN CLOTHES" time.
Ok, it's really not THAT bad, but I don't want it to get that bad, so I'm just sort of very picky about computer time. So I haven't really given myself any.
I have learned to read "A Birthday for Bear" in a most entertaining fashion.
(FYI: It's all in how you voice Mouse)
ANYWAY: I have been DYING to share with you a project I did last month, but I wanted to make sure the intended recipient got it first.
And then I forgot.
So when I found out today that my special Buddy in fact got his birthday gift, I am now too excited to share it with you.
Once upon a time, I made an apron for my gorgeous friend Lauran. It was one of my very first monogrammed items that I did from scratch.
And once upon a time, she posted a pic of her sweeter than sweet little boy wearing that apron as he helped her in the kitchen.
So as I thought and thought about the best darn thing to get him for his birthday this year, I considered the interests of 4-year-old boys.
And the fact that they had recently gone to see a Dino exhibition started the search for a fun, age-appropriate book about dinosaurs.
And I found this:
Oh yeah, Dinos + Cookies?
With recipes?!
That has 4-year-old written all over it.
Did I mention it was also SCRATCH & SNIFF?
*cue the grape-scented markers I wanted really badly to eat in 3rd grade*
Just one thing:
4-year-olds are messy.
This book needed a partner.
Since I knew he wasn't adverse to wearing an apron, I decided he needed his own, manly apron.
An apron with a dino catching cookies on it.
Please believe me when I tell you that making this made me ridiculously happy. I'd totally encourage anyone with mild depression to try and be sad while sewing brown button chocolate chips onto an apron for the sweetest 4-year-old ever.
I hope it leads to many happy hours of cookie baking with Mama (with baby brother and daddy licking the spoons!)
So happy 4th birthday to my buddy Matt, who may just end up married to Lilah one day if I have a say in things.
That boy's good people.
:-)
You know, like when I'm off computer restriction.
:-D
