Let me offa this thing!

Since August literally seemed to race by before my eyes, I thought it fitting that Lilah and I greet September in a similar fashion - this morning we participated in the 5K for Kids sponsored by JL Mann high school.  It's a fundraiser for their spirit week competition (the high schools around here have big fundraisers that culminate with their football game against their biggest rival.  No matter who wins on the field, a lot of local organizations and charities win!).

This race supported Project Hope, which provides services for the autistic community.

I said, "Say 'Race!'"

So she did.

LOUDLY.

This one is a little better. LOL

The small but formidable crowd gathers before the race.

Lilah took this one of me.  I apparently adopted a superhero stance for some reason.

Oh yeah, 'cause I'm a superhero.

Wait.  That's a secret.

Forget I said that.

And we're off!

Here's the prize of the day:  The first 100 winners got a t-shirt for their efforts.

Given the giant turn-out, I am so glad we finished in the to 100.

I was only allowed to hold the prize up, because Miss Navigator wanted to wear the "New Dress" we got.  With the coffee koozie as her crown.

Typical.

So we greeted September in 49:21, a few minutes longer than our swamp rabbit time, but that's ok; I know how out of shape I am.

UPDATE:
Checking the times online, my time was 46:21, so not as bad as I had thought! Stupid brain, turning 6's into 9's...

Lots of room for improvement before the next race.

I hope!

*please let it slow down a little.  I'm getting whiplash from the calendar flipping by over here*
