Stripped

For whatever reason, Lilah LOVES these fruit Gerber fruit strips. I let her have them because a) they are 100% natural and b) they don't have any added sugar. She loves fruit, but I am running out of ways to give it to her, and this totally works when she gets mad about being in the car for however long I'm making her be in the car. But these things are stupid expensive! They cost $2.99 for 5 (yes, only FIVE) .35 oz bars.

Kinda spendy.

So imagine my excitement when I ran across these in Target the other day!

For the very same $2.99, I get 10 (yes, TEN!) .5 oz bars of exactly the same thing as the Gerber product - oh, except that it's ALSO ORGANIC! And they come in 5 (yes, FIVE!) different flavors! We so far have had positive responses from the apricot and strawberry flavors.

Why should you care about this post? Well - it is teaching me to think differently about products and their placement. The designation of "Baby" to a product is pretty much like preceding a product with the word "Wedding"- it automatically adds 20% to the price! If the Gerber product was in the "fruit snack" section of the store instead of with the baby food, I would have changed brands and products long ago. So if you, or your little sweeties, have a favorite product or food that you normally buy in one section of the store, think about where else things like it might be and check there. You might luck up and find the exact same thing but cheaper outside of "baby" land.

Clearly, my excitement over this means that my life is now fully that of a Mommy/Housewife person. And how I feel about that? Well, that's for another post. For now, maybe I'll just go eat a larger at half the price fruit strip :-D

Olivia loved those, too. My mom was at first appalled that she ate so many, thinking they were fruit roll-ups. But even I didn't know about the Target ones...I just shelled out the dough. Thanks for the tip.

Thanks for the heads up! I'll have to remember that when Madeline starts eating food-food.
