Baby Face

Karla Alvarez at Related Images, who took my wonderful maternity photos, sent me an email a couple of weeks ago asking about the baby and inquired if I would be willing to let her take some pictures of Lilah using a new swaddle made just for photography of newborns. As I had just been lamenting to Ben that we had not had any professional photos taken of her, I was quick to offer her up for modeling and getting a free session and free portrait was well worth it to me :-)

This is my absolute favorite picture...she just looks hilarious to me.

And of course, this is my sweet girl modeling the swaddle. I had to buy this one, but gah - look at her little lips!

Unfortunately, she was too old for the swaddle - she kept kicking her legs out of it so that is why the picture is so close up on her face. LOL But she did great...she let us do all kinds of things to her for nearly an hour before she threw up her tiny hands and had a big sleepy cry. :-)

I am still a little sad that I didn't get any of those awesome newborn photos done, when their skin is still really wrinkly and you wear black and it's just pink baby on black and all these beautiful shots of babies in daddy's hands and little kisses and snuggles from both parents, but I do have this great shot of her now on my shoulder, wearing the same shirt I had on in my maternity photos, and I plan to frame them together for somewhere in the house because that's just too sweet to me.

And I can't wait for April to roll around, because I have been having photo shoots with Lilah for Easter - after being inspired by my friend Lauran's awesome holiday shoots with her little cutie, Matt - so you're sure to get a giggle out of some of the things we've made this baby deal with. :-D She's a good sport.

ALSO - She slept for 6 hours last night (9:30 - 3:30) and has been in an AWESOME mood all day today. And even though I still am not getting anything done I had this realization when we were wandering around Barnes and Noble today that I can always get laundry done and dishes washed but my baby is only going to be my baby right now, so I should just spend the day holding her if I need to and not try to rush her to grow up. Because one day she won't want me to hold her, and I'll be sorry I didn't take the opportunity when I had it.

The photos are great! She's soo cute, I can't wait to meet her. As for getting things done, you're right it can keep.
A favorite poem of mine (that Mom cross-stitches for all of us) is Babies don't keep. The last line is my favorite, "Quiet down cobwebs, dust go to sleep. I'm rocking my baby because babies don't keep." Take it from me, its too true. My babies are gone, replaced by great kids, but still they're gone and won't be back. Laundry on the other hand persists and endures. It will follow you for many years to come so it can be neglected now for a bit.
