Visits

Lilah and I spent the week in Alabama last week while Ben was gone to Mississippi. Even though I was there for half of Monday, and all of Tues -Thurs, I still didn't get to visit everyone. I'm not really sure how we stay so busy, I guess it's because Lilah generally takes her naps close together each morning and unless people want to meet us for a 7:00am breakfast (after she wakes at 5:30 or 6:00!) then it's not until after 3:00pm that we can even get anywhere without leaving her the Mayor of Crank City.

But I braved the crankiness and took her on Wednesday to Birmingham to meet up with Kenina, a good friend of mine from college, and for Lilah to meet her Aunt Tamara and cousins Grey and Elizabeth in Birmingham. Uncle Chris joined us as well!

With Kenina at "Sweet Bones Alabama" at the Summit, which I chose because I am still in "coupon-only commerce" mode and they had a coupon online!

Checking out what those bigger kids are doing with Aunt Tamara.

Posed with her cousins and uncle. See the family resemblance? Ben had a great quote when I noted to him how surprised I was at how much less like her cousins she looked than I expected, especially since Ben and Chris look so similar to me and ALL the kids (Cousin Seph included) look like their daddies. He said, "Yeah, people think that the Muldrow features are really prominent, but really it's like we just take our spouses' features and run them through a Muldrow filter." And that's pretty accurate. I mean, in this picture and thinking of Seph, I see me Tamara, and Gina "Muldrowed," for lack of a better term. And that is nuts when you think about how much Lilah looks like Ben when she wants to. :-)

I thought she might confuse Uncle Chris for her Daddy, but I think she was too tired to care to be fooled.

We had a fun time, and wish we could've stayed longer to play. Hopefully we'll get together again soon!

I like that filter comment. Very clever. Since I'm not that close to your family, though, I still see straight up Ben when I look at Lilah. Whatever you ladies may think of his looks as a man, there's no denying he's a totally cute baby girl! ;) Glad you had fun in Bama!

I'm glad you made it down to visit with the family! I agree about the "filtering effect" I can see it when Krager's family is all together he and his brothers look alot alike and their features are strong in the children but none of the cousins resemble each other. When they're together you can see much more of the "out-laws" than the "in-laws"!

I find it so interesting how that all works out...genetics that is.
Hate that you were so close and didn't get to see you. I know it's busy when you visit trying to see everyone. Glad you survived it solo.
