Friday night we FINALLY made it out to First Fridays - which is our monthly open house of all the art galleries in town. We started in our little area of town which has become a huge artist area with 7 or 8 galleries in just our one little area. We spent most of our time at one particular gallery (that used to be a bank branch!) and are pretty excited to have found some awesome items that will most definitely be going to some folks for Christmas this year.
However, overall, the trip was disappointing, as I didn't find anything that REALLY wowed me (other than the xmas gift ideas), and we gave up looking fairly early as I was starting to get hungry. After dinner, we just went home. Ben had been gone all week, so he was ready to just be at the house with me and the pets.
I woke up so excited on Saturday because it was Farmer's Market Day!!! First one of the year, and they are having an extended season this year, so it was all good times coming.
Sadly, Ben and I had a fuss first thing because he was being all draggy and slow and I was HUNGRY and wanted him to go get cashola so I could have my long awaited Saturday Shrimp & Grits. I was mostly ticked off because I asked him if he had cash before we left, because I would take my purse if he didn't, and he said not to worry about it. So I could've been eating about 3 minutes faster if he hadn't been a liar.
:-p
Aside from the shrimp & grits - which were awesome as usual - the market was kind of a bust. I mean, I wanted to find all kinds of fruits and veggies and buy them and use them for cooking this week but there just wasn't...much. Then, on the way home, Ben's air conditioner blower went out, which did not make him very happy, and so he spent some of Saturday getting that resolved.
Saturday night we had dinner with the in-laws and of course Ben's mom was her usual whiny self. She did mention that she would like for us all to take a trip to Disney World next year, with accommodations and park entrances financed by her, so we'd only have to get plane tickets and pay for our food and stuff. That might be fun, but who knows what will be going on for us next year. So I don't know. They want to go in January, which - I know it's Florida and all, but come on.
And now it's me and the depressed dog and the sleeping cats and we're just waiting til we can find out what our instructions are for our film shoot tomorrow!
