Why so serious?

Ben and I went to see "The Dark Knight" this afternoon. It was pretty awesome. First of all - Christian Bale is just superhot. But aside from that, the whole movie was just GOOD. There were no slow parts. There were no parts that you wished it would be over. You never felt like, "omg hurry up!" It was just intense and amazing and loud and really impressive overall.

Heath Ledger's performance was great, but so was everyone else's. So I'm not really sure what all the Oscar buzz is about. Well, I say everyone else's - I felt like Maggie Gyllenhall was phoning it in, but whatever. I guess she was about as sparkling in the role as Katie Holmes before her, so....you know. Not big shoes to fill or anything. OH! Biggest surprise? Anthony Michael Hall is in the movie in a very small role as a CNN-type newscaster. Didn't expect that!

Anyway - if you get the chance, go see this movie. It is NOT the summer "action" film you are expecting. It is VERY intense, very interesting look at good vs. evil and the internal struggle we all have with it, and honestly - it's depressing. Don't go expecting a resolution or a happy ending. It just...is what it is. And it is DAMN GOOD.
